Private commission · Level 2 · Delivered July 2026. An Aeldari Craftworlds battle force led by Jain Zar with Howling Banshees, Swooping Hawks and Windrider jetbikes, anchored by a massive Webway Gate. Custom painted with ultra-clean turquoise airbrushed gradients and scenic urban rubble bases.
The project
This commission covers a full Aeldari (Craftworlds Eldar) strike force built to combine tabletop presence with precise technical execution. The narrative and visual core of the army is the Webway Gate standing behind the ranks: its arching structures act as the chromatic anchor, with soft green-turquoise gradients and brush-finished spirit stones that set the aesthetic signature for the whole collection.
Leading the vanguard is Jain Zar, Phoenix Lord of the Howling Banshees, flanked by a strong unit of Howling Banshees including their Exarch. We deliberately broke away from their traditional ceremonial bone scheme so the squad integrates into the army's turquoise palette, contrasting aggressively with their signature crimson hair, treated with subtle washes and razor-sharp highlights. The fast infantry line is reinforced with classic Swooping Hawks and a squad of Striking Scorpions on the left flank.
Mobile support comes from a large contingent of Windrider jetbikes and a Warlock Skyrunner, where extremely controlled airbrush work on the fairings achieves satin transitions with no grain and no colour banding.
To unify the collection we built themed urban and industrial ruin bases in matte grey, adding cracked asphalt textures, metal plating and broken slabs. This neutral, dark ground makes the luminous turquoise and gold saturation pop with maximum contrast on display.
Techniques used
- Airbrush gradients and glazing: flawless transitions from deep turquoise to light cyan on the Webway Gate panels, Windrider fairings and infantry armour.
- Edge highlighting: selective edge lighting on wraithbone-style armour and power weapon blades.
- Gem effects and localised OSL: clean, classic treatment of the Aeldari spirit stones in emerald green and warm gold.
- Scenic, weathered basing: rubble texture, cracked urban slabs and ash-grey drybrushing to tie the infantry into the terrain.
